World Wide Stitch In Public Day
World Wide Stitch In Public Day

SATURDAY 13 JUNE
Every June makers around the world pick up their needles, hooks and hoops and stitch in public - and Woolwich Works is joining in once again!
Come and spend the day with us (and our regular Wednesday Stitch Night friends!) for a free celebration of craft, community and the simple pleasure of making something with your hands. Whether you knit, crochet, embroider, cross stitch, hand sew or just want to see what it's all about, you're welcome here.
We're hosting a FREE day of activities from 11am to 3pm including:
Community circle stitch and natter
Join us as our Stitch Night friends and fellow makers celebrate World Wide Knit In Public Day! All stitchers are welcome - bring your own knitting or crochet or other stitching project to work on and meet other like-minded makers.
Mini marketplace
We're bringing together a few local (and local-ish!) makers to tempt you on the day!
Making Space: Craft, Colour and Community - a panel discussion and Q&A at 12.30pm
A conversation about craft, community and representation - who gets to be seen in the making world, and what it looks like when that changes. Moderated by designer and co-founder of BIPOC in Fiber, Jeanette Sloan, the panel brings together Lydia Amartey-Williams of Weku Yarn (and series 1 finalist on Channel 4's Game of Wool!), crochet designer Nyala Rowe of Crochet Junction, and Sewing Bee contestant Lauren Tedstone of Made by Lauren, plus Isaac from Game of Wool!
Community Call Out - Help crochet bunting for our summer courtyard!
We'll also be collecting and assembling crochet triangles for our community Courtyard bunting project and would love to have you help us with your contribution! Lucy from Attic 24 has kindly agreed for us to use her pattern, which you can find here: https://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/granny-bunting-triangles.html - along with a complete photo tutorial if you're new to crochet or need a refresher.
Can't make it on the day? We'll be collecting crochet triangles from now until our World Wide Stitch in Public Day event. Drop them off at our Welcome Desk or at our Wednesday Stitch Nights!
Yarn swap
Got some unloved yarn stash at home? Bring it on the day and swap it for something new-to-you! Leftover yarn at the end of the day will be donated to Knit for Peace in support of their ongoing initiatives.
The whole day is free to attend, no ticket needed. Just turn up!
