In this class, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the diasporic arts of Cuba and Brazil, specifically in the fusion element of Capo-Rumba. Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art that appears as a dance, set to traditional Brazilian songs and accompanied by musical instruments. The practice consists of unique offensive and defensive movements and, unlike other martial arts, requires constant motion as part of the basic training.

Capo-Rumba is formed by combining the movements of Capoeira with Cuban Rumba, resulting in a beautiful fusion of new dance rhythms, complex secular music styles, and innovative movements. This unique combination creates an ambience best described as a “party,” incorporating ground positions, kicks, sweeps, and acrobatics.

Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the best of both worlds and learn about the art of Capo-Rumba.
