Queer Jazz - margomool + Akin Soul
Woolwich Works, Tina Edwards & Jelly Cleaver present The final gig of our three-part series hosted by Tina Edwards and Jelly Cleavermargomool
Described by Line of Best Fit as ‘convention-smashing’, margomool blurs boundaries between genres, gender, audience and performer. Since landing in the London jazz-ish scene in 2020, margo has featured in mixes by the likes of Jamz Supernova and Emma-Jean Thackray, and has found fans across the globe through the British Council’s Selector Radio.
The genderqueer artist has taken their solo act and band project across the UK to stages such as Love Supreme, bringing the inclusive FYE Cypher jam along with them, making the audience part of the performance. For this performance margo will be fusing their solo electronic project with their live band to deliver a set of jazz-inspired breakbeat and house, layered with ethereal folk melodies that sing to queer existence.
