The Orange Room Collective presents Join us for an open mic event that spotlights and celebrates Black creatives from London, with a special emphasis on talent from Woolwich.ORC's goal is to offer a stage to gifted artists, poets, musicians and performers within the Black community, allowing them to share their unique voices and skills.

MEET THE FOUNDERS:
Rasheeda is a poet, speaker, writer, and community leader. She founded RevolYOUtion London and has collaborated with Channel 4, BBC, Poet in the City and Ted Talks. She has a First Class Honours degree in Politics and Social Anthropology and was awarded the SOAS Social Activist of the Year Award in 2018. She lives in Woolwich and has been involved in community initiatives for over a decade including Woolwich Carnival, Woolwich Lates and Woolwich Creative Club.
Shani Akilah is a writer, screenwriter, and book influencer. Passionate about community, she ran the Nyah Network, a book club for Black women, for six years. She also founded Bankra, a contributor based platform, which explored the hyphenated identities of Black millennials. She is a literary judge Nota Bene Prize 2023 and has a Masters Degree in African Studies from Oxford University. Her debut short story collection will be published by Oneworld in June 2024. She was born, raised and currently lives in Woolwich and is the artist in residence at Woolwich Works.
