Peter Brooks

Peter’s a Councillor for Glyndon Ward at the Royal Borough of Greenwich, having spent 22 years serving the London Borough and the Royal Borough. From 2004 – 2014, he was Deputy Leader of the Council, and Councillor with responsibility for Human Resources and Workforce Matters, Anti-Poverty, Regeneration, the Voluntary Sector and Tourism.

Peter developed a regeneration strategy for the borough including housing, retail and transport developments. He created the foundations for effective campaigns to improve future transport links (such as a Crossrail Station at Woolwich Arsenal) and the modernisation of Council services. He initiated strategies to improve employment prospects for local people (including apprenticeships and work experience)and implemented the Council’s Anti-Poverty Strategy.

Peter’s a trustee of Trust for London, Bellingham Community Partnerships, and has been Chair of Governors of Windrush School since 2001. He originally trained as an electrical engineer.
