Allan MacCarthy

Woolwich-born Allan has always lived locally and has strong community links. He was a Greenwich councillor for 20 years, chairing several council committees and being Mayor in that time.

Before he retired, his professional work included as a full time official for two trade unions. Equity – the creative practioners’ union- was one. His experience there was with commercial television, small scale and commercial theatre

He’s been a board member at several schools and colleges with students from nursery age to doctorate level.

Allan’s also been chair of Greenwich Theatre’s board, is a board member of Greenwich Dance and is vice-chair of Moorfields Eye Hospital’s membership council.

He loves photography and has been taking pictures for over 50 years.

He’s proud to be on the board of Woolwich Works.
